Year 1 Design, Make and Fly Kites
At the end of last half term, the children in Year 1 at Pine Ridge and Lorraine used some intricate skills to make their own kites as part of a DT project.
The children had spent the last 6 weeks looking at different types of kites (including Carp and Diamond kites) and testing out different types of materials. Carp kites are a Japanese kite in the shape of a fish called a Koi which are flown during a special Japanese holiday called Children's Day.
The children designed their own kites on paper and eventually brought their designs to life. Then there was only one thing left to do, take them outside to fly them! It certainly looks like they had a lot of fun!
