Nature Celebration for King's Coronation
It was back to nature when our schools celebrated the King’s Coronation on Friday 5th May.
Dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion, the children foraged for materials to make their own ‘nature crowns’ and flags, before enjoying a special Coronation lunch.
A vegetable patch was also opened in the King’s honour, inspired by His Majesty’s known love of nature.
Other GLF schools celebrating the Coronation included Manor Primary School, where the children enjoyed an RAF fly past, Windmill Primary School, where they buried a time capsule, and Floreat Montague Park, where a commemorative tree was planted.
At Danetree Primary School, the children took part in a King’s Parade, while at Salfords Primary, Marden Lodge, and Warren Mead, the children dressed as royalty for the day, and at Frogmore Junior School they posed for photographs with a life-size cut-out of the King.
Glyn School’s celebrations included a Coronation Staff Bake Off competition, and Cordwalles Junior School’s children each received a commemorative medal, while at Banstead Infants they took part in the Big Help Out.
