Watching Wonders Grow!

It has been an exciting week in Donaldson and Murphy Class!  We have been thinking about life cycles and how much we have learnt to do since we were a baby.  We know we have got so much more to learn as we grow older.  We have been caring for our babies in the home corner because they need lots of help.  They haven’t learnt to feed themselves, dress themselves, walk or talk yet!

We have also been watching our caterpillars grow over the last few weeks.  They were so tiny to begin with but they ate lots of food and grew really big.  They have made a cocoon and this week they started to emerge.  They are beautiful!

The children then enjoyed a truly magical moment as they gathered in the garden to release their beautiful butterflies.  There were smiles, gasps of wonder, and plenty of waving hands as the children said goodbye, cherishing the special experience of seeing the life cycle come full circle before their eyes.  Inspired by this colourful event, the children also explored their creativity through painting.  They learned a fascinating technique - folding their paper to create symmetrical patterns.  Each piece was unique and vibrant, just like the butterflies they had released, making it a perfect way to celebrate their learning and creativity.
