Growing Minds: Recycling and Healthy Living

At Lorraine, the children in Carle and Murphy classes have been buzzing with excitement as they explored our topic on rubbish and recycling.  Both classes got hands‑on creating colourful collages and imaginative junk models, while Carle class even headed outdoors for a real‑life litter pick to help care for their environment.

We then moved on to thinking about what makes us special.  The children explored their unique features through face collages, face drawings, and playful playdough portraits.

Murphy class also learned all about road safety, working together to create a large interactive map perfect for driving toy cars along and practising safe choices.

Our newest theme is healthy foods.  Carle class have been busy cutting and sticking healthy food pictures, while Murphy class have been sorting healthy vs not‑so‑healthy foods and painting their own vibrant vegetable artwork.

It’s been a joyful, creative, and hands‑on half‑term of learning so far.

At Pine Ridge, the long summer days are here and this has led to so much fun in our outside learning environment for Campbell and Donaldson classes.  We have been thinking about signs of summer and we have had plenty of signs lately!  We have been noticing the flowers growing and this led to the children making perfume in our mud kitchen.  We used flowers we had collected to make an array of different scents.  The perfume smelt beautiful!

We have also been thinking about how special we are.  We made masks for our faces and decorated them using our own ideas.  We also know that we have to eat healthy to stay special.  We know the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods and we made some delicious fruit kebabs.
