Great Fire of London - Visit from the Matrix Theatre Company
The Year 2's travelled back in time to the 2nd of September 1666, Pudding Lane, London. Unfortunately one of them was a little careless forgetting the law of the day and did not put out the bakers oven! No harm done... only 1,300 hundred houses burnt down, and two thirds of London destroyed. Thankfully they were very brave, worked well as a team and managed to get the fire out in just four days!
Of course, this did not happen but the children had a wonderful day dressing up as bakers, royalty, mayors and even a rat catcher amongst others, and really enjoyed the immersive theatre experience bringing to life the Great Fire of London which has been the focus of their English lessons this term.
