White Watch Visit Owls Class at Lorraine
The children in Year 2 have been learning about fire safety using Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s learning activity box. On Friday last week, a crew from Camberley Fire Station came to visit the children in Owls Class.
Part of their work is to visit schools to teach children and young people key fire safety skills. We want all families to be safe from fire, so please take some time to ask them what they have learnt. Some of the areas covered were:
- What firefighters do
- Fire is hot so they should stay away
- 999 is the emergency number
The children got to see the firefighters in their fire kit and even Miss Williams got to experience what it was like to wear all their heavy clothing!
The children were shown around the fire engine and all the equipment that is on board including the 'Jaws of Life', several large hoses, a huge first aid kit and other equipment used to recue people who are in need of help.
Then came the part everyone had been waiting for... a chance to use the hose! As you can see from the pictures, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We are very grateful to the firefighters from Camberley Fire Station's White Watch for coming to visit both of our schools!
