Campbell and Carle Class Expore Art on a Big Scale
Over the last few weeks, Campbell Class (N1) at Pine Ridge have been exploring art on a big scale. We saw this as a perfect opportunity to continue with the children’s interests and celebrate bonfire night.
We painted on a large scale outside, making lots of big bangs, splats and paint explosions. Inside, we were a little more delicate and explored glue, glitter and all things that sparkle. We made our own firework wands and used gross motor skills to move our bodies like fireworks, whooshing and fizzling through the air.
During group time we explored our treasure baskets that represented bonfire night, this also allowed us to talk about fire safety with the children in Campbell Class.
The children in Carle Class (N1) at Lorraine had an exciting week learning about bonfire night. The children made their own fireworks using sticks and colourful tissue paper which they then used gross motor movements to move their fireworks. The children also created a bonfire outside using sticks and tissue paper to which they pretended to toast marshmallows on long sticks. Finally the children made edible sparklers by dipping a breadstick in melted chocolate and adding sprinkles to make it colourful.
