Donaldson and Murphy Classes Explore Local Community
Donaldson Class have been thinking about where we live and all the places we go to in our community. We can talk about the type of home we live in and because we know the story of The Three Little pigs so well, we made the connection to the materials our homes are made from to help keep us safe. We decided that we would not like to live in an igloo because we would have to wear our hats and gloves all the time. Some of us fancied the idea of living in a castle!
During our self-chosen play, we created a bus. The bus dropped us at many different destinations. Some of us wanted to go to ‘Camberley Town’, some decided to go to the soft play area but others went further afield and enjoyed a nice holiday in the sun!
For some time, we have been revisiting our interest in caring for babies right from the moment they are born! Our baby clinic in our role play area helped to extend our interest and this was linked to the places we find in our community. We also enjoyed our visit to the shops in our local community!
Murphy Class had a very exciting visit from ‘Little City’ last week where the children got to explore different role play environments. The children had fun becoming a stylist, a vet, a mechanic, a builder, a shopkeeper and much more!
After the visit, the children enjoyed role playing back in the nursery taking on new and exciting jobs.
