Building Detectives: Year 1 Investigate their Local Area
This half term, Year 1 have been busy exploring traditional fairy tales in English. The children especially enjoyed creating their own bridges for the troll in The Three Billy Goats Gruff, carefully thinking about how to make them strong and stable.
We also loved our local walk, where we looked closely at the shops and buildings in our community. The children were fascinated by the different structures and components of the buildings, which has inspired them as they begin designing and making their very own model of the Old Dean.
In Maths, we have been securing our understanding of the composition of numbers from 0-10, using practical activities and games to build confidence and deepen number knowledge.
A highlight of the term was the snowy day... the children had so much fun playing outside and making snow angels!
Well done, Year 1, for a wonderful half term of learning!
