Children's Mental Health Week & Safer Internet Day
This week, the children took part in a range of activities to mark Children’s Mental Health Week. Through class workshops, we explored the idea that all feelings are normal and that everyone experiences a wide range of emotions. As part of the Place2Be campaign, we also thought about the importance of having a safe space, somewhere we feel calm, supported and ourselves. The children enjoyed drawing and sharing their own personal safe spaces.
We also began our work on Safer Internet Day, where our focus was on understanding AI. We asked big questions such as 'What is AI?' and 'How does it fit into our lives?' The children looked at different images and had to decide which were real and which were created by AI. This led to thoughtful discussions about why it is important to question what we see online and not assume everything is true.
We also talked about chatbots and how, although they can be helpful tools, they are not real people. If children ever have a worry or a real-life problem, it’s important they speak to a real life trusted adult who can support them.
